Ok, so there is great debate about whether or not to report a classmate(s) for cheating on tests....Is there anyone out there who actually did report it to their instructor? If so, how did it go?

there is a girl in my class who has an iep, so she gets to take her test in a separate room by herself, with more time and a proctor. appearantly (i didnt hear it from her directly) she was bragging that her proctor was hinting to her for some of the answers and she got a much better grade than most of the class.
one of my friends in the class told one of our instructors. i guess it got sorted out because shes still in the class. dont know if it was even true... other than that, never witnessed anyone cheating, but id probably report it if i saw it first hand. its not fair to everyone else, and its definitely not fair to their future patients.

It wasn't exactly for cheating ... but a friend and I reported some shoddy work by our classmates in graduate school. The students were collaborating on assignments and taking shortcuts that were "questionable." We thought their behavior hurt the program as a whole and devalued our degrees.
The faculty agreed and were happy that we had explained why some of the students were passing the courses but not seeming to learn the things they were supposed to be learning. They changed some of their teaching procedures, assignments, and even made curriculum changes to prevent that kind of shoddy work -- and promote a higher level of scholarship.

In my university, proctors are 65+ pensioners, who don't know their uvula from a vulva... you'd be pretty stupid to rely on any of their answers.
