SLU AMSN 2016!!

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi!

I have been checking to see if anyone had started a discussion board for those admitted to SLU for the AMSN program for this fall but no luck yet so I decided to create my own! I was admitted to St. Louis University's AMSN program a week or so ago and I'd love to connect to any other people who have been admitted too! Can't wait to get started and meet everyone! If any current students have any suggestions or advice about succeeding in the program please feel free to comment. I'm sure I'm going to need it lol

Hi everyone! I was also accepted into the Fall 2017 AMSN program! I wondered if y'all had information on the different clinical experiences we'll have, and then also where most students live around the area! Thanks!

Congratulations!! I really love the program. All the instructors and support staff are highly qualified, super sweet and all genuinely care about everyone in the cohort making it through. I am really happy with my decision to come here. I am from CA so it was an adjustment, but I came because my husband attends their medical school so I'm not alone. There are definitely a lot of things to do around the university to keep busy and you get really close to your cohort since you see them so often.

The first semester is a lot of class time, Monday- Thursday, morning to the early afternoon, with a few days of clinical experiences. The second semester, which is where I am in the program right now is class Monday and Tuesday, while Wednesday and Thursday are clinical days. Wednesday we have clinical all semester and Thursday we only have clinical 4 weeks out of the semester. Next semester I believe is two days of classes and two days of clinicals all the way through.

Our cohort size is 32 people, and we are one of the biggest groups they've had so far. But our clinical groups are still pretty small the clinical group I'm in now has only 6 people and for the second rotation of the semester I believe the group grows to about 10-12 because its a public health setting in elementary schools, so less supervision is needed.

Let me know if you have anymore questions! If you choose SLU I know you'll love it!

Hi! Do you mind sharing the tuition cost for you considering you are out of state? I'm also from California and planning on applying to SLU. Any tips would be great!
