i was reading some old post about skyscape. i have am looking into getting a tabers and was wondering if they expire after a year??? I already have the nursing constellation on my tilt. but have only had this program for a few months. So now I am scared i am wasting money? So does anyone know if this rumor is true from experience?

Are you asking if you will lose or not have access to the programs after a year?

You will always have those programs on your pda. I have had my Davis, Tabers, etc for well over a year. During the year after your purchase though, when you sinc up online you will receive the newest downloads (new drugs, etc) and after a year it won't do that anymore, but the program is still on your pda--you just won't be receiving the newest downloads of new drugs, etc after the year is up. Does they help you out??

I think a pda is the way to go. There is no way you can keep up with the newest drugs coming out everyday/week/month with a paper Davis Drug Guide but with your year long subscription with Skyscape you do for a year. Just like some people like to buy a new drug guide every year, some people like to renew their skyscape drug guide every year to keep up with all the latest drugs. To some people it's worth the money and others it's not.

Make sense??

thanks so much. I think I will still get my tabers. Because i should not have to update that for a while. do you know if i can update my davis drug guide in a few years or will i have to repay?

I think it does. I have nursing central and it just "expired" February 1, but the programs still work fine. All it means is that I won't get my drug guide, lab guide, etc updated next time they update their databases. FWIW, they only updated 2 times last year that I can recall, so I'm not losing out on a whole lot. I'll probably re-subscribe to it after I graduate and have a good job but I'm a poor student right now and it's not worth $150 right this second, so I'll wait. I wouldn't buy a brand new drug guide every time one was released, and I usually double check if I have questions (on Micromedix at the hospital, for example). I did initially install a second drug guide (epocrates) but it insisted on installing itself on my PDA instead of on the card I've got in the PDA, which ate up all the space and memory so I uninstalled that one and haven't tried it since. I did it because that one is free and updated all the time, so if you can get it to install right it seems like a pretty good program.
