I never had to do it, but my best guess would be basic skills....BLS, vital signs, finger stick, donning PPE, restraints; then maybe more facility specific stuff.... Protocols, pumps, labeling lab specimens, pt transfers, etc
My facility requires a yearly skills refresher course every year and these are some of the skills they cover.
So this is a pre-employment assessment? If so, it has to be pretty universal in terms of the stuff that is included. It also has to meet very stringent validity & reliability standards that prove it is absolutely non-discriminatory. So, shouldn't be any problems.
My organization uses post-employment testing instead of pre-employment. We use the results to make sure that the right stuff is included in orientation - and that we don't waste time on stuff you already know.
Hello NS81,I was wondering if you took the pre-employment test for RNs at Montefiore yet because I have to take it next week and I'm very nervous!!!
Any advice or tips would be amazing.
Thanks!!
Hi! Yes, I took it and scored 100% on both exams!!! There's a proper medication administration examination and a calculation exam. I didn't find them difficult at all. I would suggest for you to review mg to grams, weight etc... if you have time. Good luck!

Hi Everyone!
I hope you all are well. I have a question for you all. I am taking a skills assessment examination for employment at Montefiore medical center in the Bronx. I was wondering if anyone took this exam?? And if so, how did you study?? I feel "skills assessment" is extremely vague and wanted to prepare for it. I appreciate any feedback! Thank you in advance :)
