SJVC Spring 2023 RN

Hi starting this thread since I didn't see anyone create one for this semester. Has anybody had their interviews yet?

I don't know anyone. I went for my physical and all new faces.

Ahh! That's so exciting you got your physical done! I'm crossing my fingers that today is the day. I will be happy with whenever I'm notified but I was really hoping to know by orientation day or prior to the first day at least. Did you get your scrubs and shoes?

I have only 1 pair of scrubs. All other scrubs I ordered came in a darker shade. I have another order coming in from Dickies website. My shoes should be here tonight. Cutting it very close...

Where did you order the other ones from? I looked on Amazon and some of the shades looked off... I was thinking about just getting 1 set in case. Since I work in healthcare anyways, I can always just use them. What kind of shoes did you get?

The set I have came from Amazon. I also put in an order with walmart and dickies. Fingers crossed they are the right shade.

For shoes, I got some reebox. They were on sale.

Thank you for the ideas! I didn't even think of Reebok! Did they by chance tell you dress code for orientation tomorrow?

Can I get a good overview of what classes and scheduling is like? Is this a program that makes you feel you're set up for failure? Can you work and goto this school? I'm scrambling for a good school right now

Hi Dee,

Of course. My classes are on Tuesday and Thursday. The time varies, it can be all day or half day. Currently right now I go all day on Tuesday (8-4:30) and half day on Thursday (9-11). I know they have other programs that go Monday/Wednesday. You clinical day varies, that is the hardest thing to work with. 1 class it can fall on the same day and another it can vary. Currently my clinical day is on Saturday and in this class it will stay on a Saturday.
I have worked since I started the program. I have an amazing employer who has been very understanding with my hours. I use to only work on Wednesday and Fridays because my clinical day fell on a Monday. Now I'm working Monday, Wednesday, half day Thursday, and Friday.

I think every program has its ups and downs. Thing's constantly change it's healthcare. But overall I'm happy. One thing I really like with sjvc is you get an assigned facility member as a mentor. I love my mentor, she's really informative and helpful.
Hope that helps.

Prisilla, can you tell me if this schedule is for the straight RN program or the bridge program. Thank you

Sorry, I'm new to this and don't know how this works. I was wanting to ask Pracilla if the schedule she was referring to is the straight RN or the bridge program. I was just offered a seat in the 2024 bridge program and trying to figure out the schedule. I know they stated Wednesday and Friday I just wasn't sure on the hours. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, I am not in the bridge program. I think they are similar though. You will go to school on Wednesday and Friday. The hours vary depending on the class. And 1 clinical day that varies as well.
