SJSU Spring 2017 (Questions/Comments/Concerns)
I looked around to see if anyone had started a thread but nothing
It varies a lot from what I've read around on other threads. Fall seems to get harder and harder each year and spring seems to vary a lot (still pretty competitive though even though its only sjsu applicants). My guess is that the lowest fall cut off will probably be our cut off, but its hard to tell since the equation to get impaction score has changed.
Do any of you guys know if we need to take any extra steps to submit and articulated course that we took at another school? I just checked the power point for nursing and it says that you need an a course substitution form only if the course you took is NOT articulated. The course I took is articulated, but theres no info on whether there are any more steps to take
If you course you took is articulated, then you should be okay!
If you go on this link, select the school and major nursing.. if the courses match up then they are articulated and you'll be fine.
I had emailed Sue Malloy since shes the director of the nursing department about if the classes that I transfer over will use the units that the community college had or the SJSU units for it. I took stat 95 at a community college and there it was a 4 unit course but at SJSU its a 3 unit course so the units make a difference in GPA and her response was that she is unsure how the NursingCAS (since we have to apply with this online application now) will calculate our GPAs but before they would use the SJSU equivalent units.
so if any of you are in the same boat that have transferred a course over with different units, who knows how our gpas will be calculated.
Hopefully they get calculated in our favor! DO you guys know how long the process takes after provisional acceptance? Do you guys know any current nursing students that knows when the orientation workshop takes place and how long the overall process takes? (submitting stuff/orientation date)

What do you guys think will be the cut off score for this applicant period? I know that Fall 2016 it was 7.37, Spring 2016 was 7.0 and Fall 2015 it was 7.25. These were the cut off scores when you had to divide your TEAS score by 23 so the total for an impaction score was around an 8.34 or 8.35.
Since we have to divide our TEAS by 30, the total impaction score for us is out of 7.33. It sucks that we're going to be the first to deal with the new impaction score because now we don't know what impaction score is good enough! Also, how many people do they typically accept every applicant period? Luckily for us, SJSU doesn't take transfer student applicants for the Spring application period so we're at an advantage that there is less people applying than if we were to have applied for Fall.
