SJRCC students - please speak up

Published

I am concerned about the negative posts on SJRCC nursing program. Are there any students or Grads out the that are happy with the program? I am applying to OP Spring 2010 because it is closer to my house. FCCJ and UNF are twice the distance. I called several hospitals and they all said good things about SJRCC and their students . What do you think?

I am attending the nursing program at sjrcc and I got in with 136 points, and was not put on the "alternate list" as some other people I know were.

Hope this helps:yeah::cool:

That is good to hear! Are you at OP or Palatka? Do you mind posting what a typical schedule is like? Thanks!

That is good to hear! I have applied for Palatka for a fall start. Just playing the waiting game now. Unwell, what do you think so far???????

unwell, did you get in your first try?

Third Semester (Mental Health and Parent Child 1)- Only Wednesdays PC1 from 9-12:00, 12-1:30 lunch, 1:30- 4:30- MH. 7 clinical days (10 1/2 hour days) at mental health facility. 4 days for parent child/OB at the hospital

Fourth Semester (Summer A- Parent child 2, Summer B- Adult Health 2) 4 Clinical days in obstetrics at the hospital for parent child, 120 hours in other areas of the hospital for adult health 2

Post if u have any other questions :heartbeat

Wow thanks unwell! You have been a wealth of information!! I think you have covered everything. The only other thing I would ask is where do you do the clinicals? I live where I could apply to either OP or Palatka and I am wondering which would be best.

Both campuses use the same facilities for clinicals. Orange Park Medical Center, Putnam Community Medical Center, Flagler Hospital in St. Augustine, Renaissance 20th St. Crisis Stabalization Unit (JAX), Kindred Hopital (green cove Springs) and various nursing homes in OP, Palatka, and St. Augustine. Every semester they usually have a sign up sheet and you pick the facility you would like to go to.

Unwell, thank you so much for taking the time to give me all that information. I really appreciate it. I have tried to get specifics like that from the college, but cant seem to pin them down on anything. Thank you so much!!

You're Welcome! Anytime

I'm applying to FCCJ with a ton of points but am now nervous about getting in because I live in Clay county (GCS) and I heard that there's only so many spots and they go to Duval and Nassau residents first. So I think I am going to apply for the spring 2010 in OP for SJRCC as a backup. I took the nutrition class last fall in Palatka and I just need Intro to Soc and Human Growth & Dev. which I am going to register to take this summer at OP.

When did you start the program?

UNWELL when did you start the program?
