SJRCC students - please speak up

I am concerned about the negative posts on SJRCC nursing program. Are there any students or Grads out the that are happy with the program? I am applying to OP Spring 2010 because it is closer to my house. FCCJ and UNF are twice the distance. I called several hospitals and they all said good things about SJRCC and their students . What do you think?

What are the negative post concerning? The difference with this school from all the other's is the time it has been in the business of producing RN graduates. All other schools have been doing way longer and run like a well oil machine. I think they are trying to iron out their program as they go forward which gives the impression of not having things together. It will take many years to have the well oiled machine that other school's possess. I am here I am getting it done and I have friends in other local programs. When I here what they are doing and compare it to what I am doing I am able to see that there is alot of teaching experience behind their process where is my program is good but the instructor's are constantly making it better. When it is all said and done it is the person in the program not the program that has to pass the NCLEX where they lack giving up information be proactive in seeking it out from the instructors additional books and other students and staff from other schools. I am completing my third semester and this summer is the last before transitions in the fall. I am committed by any means necessary.

Good luck to you

Thanks for the reply. I think it depends on the student and what you are willing to put into it. As long as I get the end result - my RN license, I will be happy. I live in Keystone Heights and do not want to drive to FCCJ or UNF. Have you been able to work at least part time during clinicals?

I do not work at all. That to may be an advantage for me attending this program.

Does anyone know how long it takes to complete the sjrcc program? Are OP and Palatka the same amount of time? Also, does anyone know what the average cut off points have been in the past?

Both programs take 5 semesters after prerequisites are finished. I am applying to the OP program which starts in January 2010. I will have 156 points. This would have been enough to get in to the last class. Hoping it will be enough this time too.

Thank you for all the info! Do you know if it is 5 semesters straight or do they take a summer off? I saw some old posts that said they took a summer off but they were older posts.

they do not take summer off. Op starts spring & palatka starts summer.

OP has a summer nursing class starting next week. Graduation is Dec 2010.

Correction: Palatka starts in fall. Sorry!

Anyone applying to OP Spring 2010 (Jan.)?

I will be applying Spring 2010. Not sure if I will have enough points. I still have to take 2 more classes so not sure how many points I will have. 156 seems like alot, I am sure you will be fine. I dont think I will have that many points. Do you know what the lowest score was they took last time?

Don't know lowest points last class. They only accept 36 students. You should be able to tell how many points you have using their points system.
