Simmons direct entry NP 2011

U.S.A. Massachusetts

Published

Hey everyone, I just got accepted to Simmons for their NP program. My application got slowed down, so I think most folks have already been accepted. I found some threads on Simmons, but none of them seemed to be about those accepted into this program (if you know of some, please send me their way, otherwise please reply here!) I'd love to hear from others who are accepted and are doing it or still considering. So far its the only one I've been accepted to, but I'm still waiting on Samuel Merritt (case management) and UMass Amherst (ABSN). I grew up in Western MA, lived in Oakland for the last 7 years, and really have no idea what Boston is like! I'm kind of scared to move there :-p Not scared of Boston per say, but just starting over again in a place I don't know anyone. Anyway, would love to hear from other folks who got in or folks who started a year or more ago.

Thanks!

Cory

Hey everyone.

I just recently sent in my deposit so I will be joining you this summer! I have to take anatomy and developmental psych beforehand. I am so excited, but have no idea where I'll be living. I'm originally from Western, MA as well, and currently go to school north of Boston. Do any of you know what you are doing for housing yet?

Thanks!

-Ayla

Hi Ayla,

Awesome! I'm taking dev psych too, although its online and I won't yet be in the area. Where are you from in Western MA? Since you're having to take the anatomy class, you'll probably be looking for housing before I will, but I will be hoping to find other students in June to try and get a place with. Here is a link to the yahoo chat group we started, send me your email if you have problems with it and I can just add you.

SimmonsNP2014 is what you need to look for

Hey de2013, I'm wondering if you have any advice on which profs to take, when there are choices. Seems like many classes there is just one, but sometimes there is a choice. I checked them on rateyourprof, but the ratings were very inconsistent. Maybe email me at [email protected], rather than make that public. Thanks!

Hi Cory-

I'm from Oakland as well, and my sister lives in Boston. Boston is great! Walkable, with lots of outdoor stuff to do and great music. I'm moving there to start in the MGH DE program this fall.

I notice a lot of folks are starting to think about move logistics. Maybe we should create a joint thread with the other Boston programs to share options?

Hi! I am also applying to Simmons NP program and absolutely have my heart set on the program, it looks so great. Obviously I don't have answers about how to get in, but I hope the others who are in will give us some pointers! I really hope it works out for you and we can study together at that great place. I love Boston and it's a great place to live. p.s. and i love that they dont ask for a GRE! Are you from far away? Im in Georgia right now.

Hey lydiakbryant!

Yes I am from Boston and it's totally a great city! But be prepared for the cold weather.

OH awesome you're from there. I went to college in Boston and i am ready to go back for more school. its the best city in the world! I was looking at simmons' housing for grad students, looks like they have one building. its a cool-looking building, i wonder if we'd be expected to live off campus? Still working on my personal statement.. lol

peace

lydia

Hey @Lydiakbryant & @Jessram!

I'm really surprised there aren't more Simmons applicants posting on here! I graduated from Simmons in January of 2011 with a BS in psychobiology. I was accepted into the program for summer 2011 entry, but ending up deferring my acceptance until this year. I've lived in Boston for almost 6 years now, and lived off campus for 3.5 of the 4.5 years I was at Simmons.

I really hope you guys both get in, and would love to talk more about anything. I don't really check this site often, so I don't know how capable of carrying a conversation on here I am. Email me!!!
