Simmons BSN 2017

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi, Just starting a thread for anyone who applied to Simmons for a 2017 start. I applied for the two year BSN as a Dix Scholar.

So I think that is just a guideline because the actual class timmings vary. here is the link for the 16 month option so you can see your class load is http://www.simmons.edu/~/media/Simmons/Admission-and-Financial-Aid/Undergrad-Admission/Documents/Dix-Nursing-Accelerated-Sequence-080516.ashx?la=en

If you go to the simmons current courses and look up the classes on that list for last years schedule, you can get an idea of how many days etc. Of course it may change but I found it helpful.

I'm doing the 2 year option despite having the previous bachelors because I have two small kiddos

It looks like you will have Patho, pharamcology and nursing fundamentals all in one term. That will be pretty content heavy

I'm doing the 2 year option despite having the previous bachelors because I have two small kiddos

NURS404AdvancedPathophysiology**• NURS295-ACHealthAssessment/Fundamentals(8labhours/weekforthefirst6weeks)• NURS235-ACPharmacology• NURS226-ACMedicalSurgicalNursingI(8clinicalhours/weekforthelast8weeks)

So for Fall, you will have probably one FULL day of classes where you'll have pathophysiology and pharmacology. Then for the first 6 weeks you have lab and then the last 8 weeks, instead of lab you'll have the clinical.

For me in the 2 year option, I'll have half a day of class and the lab for the while first term.

Hope that helps!

Hi I was just wondering if any current Simmons students can provide information on what the class schedule is like on a weekly basis for an accelerated bsn student? Are classes held every day / from what times do they normally start and finish?

Thank you for the insight!

Hi! So when I did the accelerated program, we never had classes 5x/week. The first semester, my schedule looked like this:

Tuesday: med surg for 3 hours, pharmacology for 4 hours

Wednesday: lab for 2 or 3 hours (later replaced with a clinical day in the second half of the semester)

Thursday: fundamentals for 3 hours, patho for 4 hours

The rest of the semesters we only had one day of classes per week. However, during these semesters you have more days of clinical. For instance, in the summer I had 3 classes on Tuesday (8-6:30.... very time consuming) and then clinical on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Hope this helps!
