SHSU Fall 2017 hopefuls

Published

Hey guys! I wanted to start a thread for the people applying for the fall program at Sam Houston. The application period is getting close to opening and I am personally getting really nervous

Hi I'm also applying for the fall! I have a 3.71 overall and 3.82 in science and my overall TEAS score is 75 but I am going to retake it.

Hi! I am considering applying to SHSU nursing program for Fall 2017. I was wondering if you could elaborate on why you think the program is extremely flawed. Thank you!

Does anyone know if you have a better chance of getting accepted if you turn in your application early? Like if 2 people had the same credentials but 1 person turned it in earlier, that person would be ahead?

Hi everyone!

GPA 3.6 overall and 80 on the TEAS!

Ill be applying as well! I'm just waiting on my class to end so I can send an updated transcript. Good luck to everyone!

I heard that for the TEAS scores they are only going to look at the Math and Reading and not the overall. Does anyone know if this is true?

@loganhope - I didn't hear that directly from any staff member, but I did read that on the SHSU nursing website! That made me feel a lot better since I did really well on those sections!

@Nurse2bkd00 same here. I actually had a pre-nursing advisor tell me that about the scores but I was just wondering if anyone else got told the same thing. I got an 83 on Reading and an 84 on Math which aren't that great but they are better than my overall.

@loganhope - That's not bad! My adviser told me to get a certain average which, if I remember correctly, was a 75 average or above for the total TEAS score. I got an 85 on the reading and a 91 on the math section and an 80 total score for the TEAS. I'm just excited to even be able to apply. It has taken me a while to get here!

Hi everyone!

I'm applying for the Woodlands campus and I wish you all the best of luck!

Overall gpa: 3.6

Pre-req gpa: 4.0

Teas 6: 87

(Hmm also curious as to why she said the program is flawed...) Oh well, we won't be discouraged and we must keep working towards our goals!

Are y'all applying for the Woodlands or the Main Campus?

I applied for main campus! And yes my advisor told me they are looking strictly at the reading and math scores (preferably above a 90 in both) and then the overall score to make sure its above a 70

I am applying this semester my GPA is a 3.6 overall and a 3.6 science and math. 89 on the reading for the read and 100 on the math portion. Hoping to get my GPA a little higher by the end of this semester.
