Hey guys! I wanted to start a thread for the people applying for the fall program at Sam Houston. The application period is getting close to opening and I am personally getting really nervous
My best guess is that they started sending them out based on whatever ranking system they used. So, the highest 65 got an email for acceptance and the next 30 got the alternate email. Once they figure out who accepted, they'll start to ask alternates (and as they're asking alternates, they would send emails to the new alternates) until they reach 65 students for the class. I know I won't be using my alternate position, and I'm sure there are people who applied here as a backup school. I wouldn't worry, there are very few programs who will have 100% of offers accepted. (My guess is programs like UTMB, UTHSC, TWU, TCU, UT and others at that level would have fewer people say no.) The fact that the accepted students only had two days to respond really helps speed up the process for everyone else. I know waiting sucks, but this is just my best guess based on what I have heard from people who are part of the decision process for graduate programs. Nursing, as a professional school is a lot more like graduate programs than other undergrad degrees, so these things are all just a best guess based on how I've seen admissions done for grad school.

That makes sense but it doesn't really sound fair. Like if all the people that got accepted choose to stay with the program from the first round, doesn't that give the second round applicants less of a chance?
