Should I work in a nurology clinic or an allergy clinic?

Published

Hi everyone,

I currently work on a in the Pacu and have an opportunity to work Monday thru thursday 830 to 6 pm 9 hour days working in a neurology clinic as an RN working closely with the doctor doing a lot if patient education.

I also have an opportunity working Monday through Friday 8 hour days in an allergy clinic traveling to different locations working with two different doctors and otherr nurses. I am trying to decide between the two and would like to hear from nurses who alreasdy work in these types of clinics. Any information would be appreciated. I am making thed switch becasuse I am a single mom and need more regular hours, no holidays, no weekends, no on call.

I would choosw neurology clinic. First, I find it more interesting, secondly I prefer to work in one place.

Thsnks for your input!

Will you have childcare that gives you enough time to pick up your children if you are running late at the neurology clinic? I ask because daycares around here usually close at 6pm. If you will, I'd probably go with that option as well since it's 4 days a week (as long as the 36 hour week will be enough to support your family and has the benefits you need for your family).

I would take the neuro position because I would find allergy shot clincs monotonous (just my personal preference). I would also prefer a 3 day weekend.

The only issue I could see is the longer days. Would you have extended daycare of after school care?

Child care is not a problem my kids are in high school and I'll be home every night at a decent time which does not happen in my current position.
