Should I take NCLEX-PN or stick with RN?

Published

I have taken the NCLEX-RN three times and still have not passed!!! I have attended reviews like NEC, Hurst, and Kaplan.I have studied a few review books (about to try suzanne's plan with saunders) but obviously those other approaches didnt work. Any more suggestions?I am so tired and feel so discouraged about taking the test again but I know that I am going to have to take it anyway. I didnt go to nursing school for nothing...

My other main concern that I want your input is, should i stick to taking the NCLEX RN again or should I take the NCLEX PN? I just heard from people I have talked to that NCLEX PN is more basic information test and that it would be easier for me go to that route for now and take the nclex RN later on. Is that true? I am just confused with what to do. I need to resend my application to TX Boards soon to take the test but im still debating if i should turn in an RN or PN application. Thank you so much for your input. Have a blessed day!

hello, i want it to write to you because i honestly felt i was alone in this!!! i am going through the same exact thing you are...lots of people tell me go for the rn all the way and others tell me go for the pn for now, its an excellent start and god forbid i dont ever pass my nclex-rn at least i got my pn license, still get $$$, experience, respect, and still i am a nurse!!! i can even retire with it! same benefits and good job opportunities(places to work)!!! i decided to do the nclex-pn for now, to get a break, i have not yet started to work as a nurse and to me its very sad and frustrated!! so i decided to do the pn to get some skills, more knowledge, that may be books can not offer and i thought may be in a good six months to a year will take the test rn again!!! i wanted to give myself the opportunity to at least work, earn a tittle, get more knowledge, and for sure some time frame to study with suzzane's plan!! i want to be a rn so bad... but if for whatever reason i can not make it, then i can say i am still a nurse and work the same, etc with the pn license!!! i hope this may help you!!! and whatever test you decide to take you pass! but you have to decide this for yourself which one its best for you now!!! (this was the hardest for me) i am taking my test in november for the pn...so we'll see how it goes!!!
