I will be interviewing soon for a position in the MICU of a tertiary care hospital in Pittsburgh. I have received several e-mails from my supervisor regarding patients who have called/written complimenting the care that I provided them & their families. My question is whether or not to take some of them to MICU interview. I had one interviewer in the past ask about them.

I haven't been in any situation where a candidate actually had the chance to show it. Is it good to have them? Of course, in case they asked. Should you offer it? Maybe, if there's more time. Does it persuade the person to hire you? Very little. They'll know right away if you fit into the culture of the unit.

Two thoughts come to mind - how does interviewer know that you didn't just fib the complimentary letters?
Also, would you be violating some HIPAA rule if you provided pt names?
Maybe a letter of recommendation from a past supervisor on official letterhead that can be descriptive but not too revealing?
References are iffy as they leave a lot of room for falsification vs verifiable.
