I finished school and graduated for lvn, I failed the state boards test. I will be retaking the test but I do plan on going back to school for RN I am 1 class away from applying for the program. Should I wait until I have passed the nclex PN before thinking of applying for RN program? Should I wait untill I pass nclex lpn and work as a lpn for a year or so than go for RN program. I'm not sure as of what to do at the moment please help your advice would be most appreciated...

Good day:
Since LPN to RN bridges go by one being an LPN (which requires passing the boards), I would think you need to take and pass the boards.
Thank you.

What does your school require? Where I graduated, EVERYONE was enrolled in the RN program. However, some chose to stop at the midway point and work with their LPN license, some had already failed out by that point, but most continued on and finished out their ADN degree, it was not a "bridge" program. So failing your NCLEX PN would not have been a problem there. I didn't even take my NCLEX PN until almost done with my first semester of classes after graduating with my LPN.

If its an LVN to RN program you need the license, if its just an RN program you don't. I would wait as short of a time as possible to apply.

I agree with the PP. As competitive and sometimes lengthy a process to get into a RN program. Applying as early as possible is your best bet...IMHO
