Should I go or stay?

Published

So....here's the abbreviated version of the story. My DNS was fired today. She knew it was coming and I knew it was coming...she told me everything. I've been with the company for almost 7 years....been ADNS for 17 months with excellent reviews and no complaints from anyone. I was told...more like had to drag it out of the Executive Director...wait, the INTERIM ED, we've had 10 of them in 6 years with ANOTHER new one coming next month, that the new DNS would be starting on Wednesday.

I am so angry that I wasn't considered for the position. I work for a huge corporation and they do things without any regard for anyone....so here is the question. Do I stay in my relatively safe position as ADNS (after all, it's the DNS who takes the hit for everyone else's mistakes) or should I go elsewhere? I do not feel at all appreciated....well....the CNAs told me they were mad that I wasn't going to be the new DNS so I guess that's something. any advice will be appreciated...and by the way, I've heard the new person has never been a DNS so they can't say she has experience..and don't tell me to ask the ED..she'll lie to my face and smile the whole way.

Here I am again with an update. I received several calls from headhunters both local and far far away offering me job opportunities....go to Monster.com and post your resume and they find you. I interviewed at a facility near here, smaller, not the same corporation I work for now. They called my old boss who of course told them I was wonderful. Then they called me and asked what they could do to get me to work for them as the ADNS...the benefits are much better....8 holidays and 17 PTO days the first year and they offered me a HUGE raise. I said yes and then gave my notice. Thanks for all your kind words and support.

WOOHOO!!! :balloons: :biggringi I am sooooooooo glad for you! Keep us posted, and I wish you joy, happiness, and a job you LOVE!!!

The saga continues. I told the DNS I wanted to speak to her. After all I had resigned on Friday but neither she nor the administrator had said anything to me. She asked me why I was resigning and I said "Mainly because they didn't offer me the job as DNS." She told me that when she was interviewed she was told I didn't want the job. (lie #1 -no one ever asked me)

Then the administrator asked why I was leaving. I told her the same thing. She said "During all our talks about it, you said you didn't want to be the DNS" (Lie #2...NEVER discussed it with me.) I told her this and then she said ..."Oh, maybe the district director of clinical ops told me she asked you one day and you said No"(Lie #3 AND why can't she remember what conversations she's had with whom?)...do these people believe what they are saying? No one ever asked me if I wanted to be a DNS...they lie with a straight face and then say I need to give more notice?!? Every day I am more convinced I've made the right decision....and no...it's not HealthSouth. It's now the largest healthcare corp in America...just bought out the Commonwealth group....

Hello all. Yes, I started my new position on Tuesday...unlike my old company the new one considered Patriots' Day a holiday. Everyone is very friendly...the building is nice. I just don't like being 'new'. I was so used to my old place...knew all the people and all the papers and where everything was....but, I'm glad I made the move. And...get this, I found out yesterday that the SDC at the new place is going to take my old job as ADNS at the old place!! Let's all sing "It's a Small World." So I called the SDC from the old place and she's coming for an interview at the new place on Monday. Is everyone as thoroughly confused as I am???

Nascar-good luck with your new ED.

i'm sorry too that you didn't get the job....but if you've been in the ltc business for any length of time you have probably seen what usually happens in situations like this. once the dns goes and there is going to be a change of administrators as weel, they usually tend to clean houses and bring their own people in.

[color=#708090]if it were me (and that's as good as i can give you) i would be updating my resumes and looking for other opportunities. it sounds like you have gone as far as you're going to at this company. it sounds like you feel you are feeling forced out and if your instincts are good, i'd follow them they're usually correct.

[color=#708090]it's always been my belief that every job is a stepping stone for something better. good luck and let us know what you decide to do!
