Should I go to nursing school????

Published

I have seen that there are a lot of people talking about the wait lists at community colleges for the AS Nursing degrees. I to went round and round in circles trying to find the right one for me. What I ended up doing is placing my name on a waiting list and then continued to take all of the prerequisites for a BSN program. I finished all of the prerequisites and was accepted to University of Colorado at the Health Science Center before I ever heard anything about being accepted from a waiting list. I guess you have to decide if you want to wait 3-4 years to get into a program that will last 18mo to 2 years or just go straight through and get a BSN degree in 4 years.... For me I did not want to wait 3-4 years to start a 2 year degree I am now starting my Senior year in the fall. Total time from start to Finnish will be right at 4 years.

It sounds to me that you already answered your question...of course, with all that you accomplished, if you want to become a nurse, then, by all means, go for it!!

I'm hoping to complete my BSN degree in 4 years too but I think it's just as hard to get into the BSN program as the 2 year program, if not harder. Correct me, if I'm wrong.

That may be where you live. I attended a small private college in Indiana where you could choose between BSN or ASN. ASN was way more competitive than BSN. Last year they didn't even fill all the spots for the BSN. So in my case it was much easier to get into a BSN program than ASN.
