Hi. I have always been interested in becoming a nurse. Today I am thinking about enrolling in the nursing assistant program at redlands adult school. My only concern is my weight. I am overweight. In 2006 I had gastric bypass surgery and Sep. of 2008 I had a baby. So that said I lost alot of weight and gained most of it back. I am worried if I enroll in these classes I will not be able to do the job physically. Maybe it is just my anxiety getting to me. Any advice?

I would go ahead and take the class. But even being a bigger person. There are jobs you may be to find that do not require the physical labor of some. There are different ways of working as a cna. You may could do home health and go and sit with people. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Enroll and go through the course. And take the opportunity to decide what you are going to do to improve your health and deal with the weight today. You know that saying about there's no time like the present....Whether you continue on with nursing or any other occupation, you still owe yourself the effort to make yourself feel better. Today. Good luck.

Enroll. When you work as a cna, you will loose some weight anyway especially in the begining. Trust me, I have seen some pretty big cna's, and they work just as hard as the rest. Make sure there are no health issues that wouldn't be in your best interest. CNA work varies, but most is heavy labor.

Yeah, you'll probably lose some weight when you start working. I gained 10 pounds but I'm the same size, if not smaller than before. I got muscles!
