Should I drop statistics?

Published

Hey everyone, I'm a little troubled here. My statistics class is a "hybrid class" with only a 1 hour lecture and 1 hour lab time a week. IT's basically a teach it yourself class. I missed about 2-3 classes and the semester just started. I know, I slacked hard. I'm taking ANatomy and physiology 1 and english 102 this semester as well. I need all As to be able to compete for my school's ADN RN program (3.8 recommended, i'm at a 3.7 right now not including these current semester's classes).

I'm wondering if I should drop statistics and take it in the summer, or try and bust my ass to catch up. I literally did not learn anything at all since the semester started.

I'll be receiving a W as a grade. Not sure how that is looked at in my school.

TL;DR

Should I drop statistics, or bust my ass to catch up?

Check to make certain how the W will be handled by the school/nursing program. Drop if you can. You have too much on your plate with the other two as it is. That is my advice.

Drop if you can, and take it in the summer. You will do much better with just worrying about 1 class.

Wow ! What a work load !!

w is normal ask your advisor

Stats is a very tricky course. There is a growing body of evidence which indicates that online or distance teaching methods are NOT appropriate for introductory stats unless the student has a strong math background. Interaction with a qualified instructor makes all the difference. The best instructor can really make this very dry subject come alive; s/he can generate examples 'on the fly' that will be meaningful & understandable.

A W is far better than failing or a WF.

Unless it is possible to still get an A or B in the course if you bust your butt, I think you should go ahead and drop. A W is better than a C in my opinion.

Good luck!

A and p is time consuming for sure.

Stats isn't hard math but it can be somewhat time attentive too. I think stats is a lot better in person since you see the board and hear explanations

I would drop if you can without repercussion. It's really hard to catch up when you've missed the foundation classes.
