I have the possibility of starting over at a private college in the RN route. I failed my two semesters at a public college. Nursing is what I want to do but the grades didnt hold up.

Should I bother even doing this again and putting myself throught the stress, or just do social work/

I can get into the social work program no problem.

I am at a lost and getting old quick!!!(28 y/o)

did u get into a NEW nursing school???

did u fail in nursing school 2x's?????

a pricate school may be harder on you. NO u are not old yet, there is girl in my class 56 yrs old.

either way go the adn route first if u can

good luck!!!!

Firstly..you're not old.

Second...don't give up your dream just yet. Ask yourself why you think you failed. Did you have any outside stress that may have contributed to your poor grades.

Was your workload too big. Study tactics all wrong. That sort of thing.

Maybe you can fix it. And go in for round 2.

Good luck.

i agree...and you are NOT old! there is a student in my class who is 53...anyway i agree with Z, try and figure out the underlying reasons of why you failed...if you go into a third nursing school and dont resolve or work on these issues are they likely to haunt you again? Maybe its just study skills...those take time and lots of practice to perfect...it took me my entire undergrad...lol im just now getting to understand myself better! Maybe your private school will have smaller classes with more personal attention? Good Luck and keep us posted:)

ADN, First - you are far from old... I'm 43 (and not the oldest in class), so forget about your age. We're currently in our 3rd Semester and have lost about 1/2 our class since last August and from what I've heard, quite a few of them plan on trying again this coming August.

You are young enough that if you truly want to be a Nurse, there's plenty of time to try again. Talk to your advisor to figure out how you can maybe change how you study to improve your grades (joining a study group perhaps). If you're a caring person and this is your dream, at least give it another shot - think of all the patients out there that you'll be able to help... Good Luck to You, Susan
