I hear that there is a nursing teacher shortage a lot of times. It usually follows a post about someone not being confident in getting into school and such.
Is the nursing teacher shortage that bad? Why?
I dont know if I'll go on to get my MSN, but if I do, teaching at a local community college would be my goal. Just doing some fact finding.
I would love to teach... I originally wanted to practice as an APRN and teach on the side, but I am starting to learn more about educating and I am seeing things differently.
What does it take to teach in an online program? I cannot seem to find these positions anywhere? Anyone have any advice? I actually have a MEd.
Thanks for any help!

I am 2 courses away from my MSN with an Education focus. Work in a healthcare setting as an educator. If I decided to teach at a technical school or University, generally I would need to take a $15-20,000/year pay cut. I currently work M-F, no weekends, no holidays, vested in retirement-earliest I need to be at work is 0700-which is rare. Latest has been 1730.
If I need to take a day off due to being ill-me or my kids-it can be done pretty easily-we just re-schedule the class. I don't have to grade students or deal with complaints-I am considered providing a service in my place of employment.
