the Canadian RN Examination... it's the same exam regardless of what Canadian province you write it in... since the June 2004 exam, there has been an additional short answer question section that you have to complete, but it isn't being included in your results... in June 2005, the short answers will be a required part of the exam...

aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh..........i'm soooooo glad i took my CRNE in August 2004!! at the time, it was optional for us to complete the short answer questions in a seperate booklet.....i don't think anyone from my graduating class bothered to complete it, since it was on our own time and it didn't count towards our exam results.......we were just dying to get out of the examination room....

sorry, i can't give you any tips for your question....

Oh, I see!!!! I didn't know that either.

I wrote the Quebec exam and it was short answer questions, no multiple choice at all. I wonder if you call the board that is giving the CRNE, they will be able to tell you at least how many questions and the structure of that section.

Maybe, you get some info.

Sorry I was not much help

I wrote my exam on January 19. 2005. The women that were in charge of the exam did not even "know" about the short answer question optional questions!! I wanted to at least have a look at them in case I am back in June...God forbid. I think the price hike for the exam is pathetic...$276 to write it in January 2005....$448.50 to write it in June!!...at least in NS...is the cost the same throughout Canada?? :angryfire

In Ontario, it is $215 now $337 in June. Can you remeber how many short answer questions if they were optional or not?

The women that gave us our test did not even know about the short answer questions. After I passed in my second booklet, I asked them when we get the short answer questions (cause I wanted to have a look at them in case I have to write again in June). They had no idea what I was talking about!! ARe you writing in June??

That is freaking unbelievable!!!

Hi Racingfan! I´m a nurse from Germany but I live in Halifax now. I hope to write the RNtest in June ´05. How was your test in January?? When will you know your results??? Do they ask also questions about ...let´s say anatomy???

I am still looking for a used CRNE Prep Guide 3rd Edition - do you sell yours or do you know somebody who would like to sell it to me???

The CRNE Prep Guide 4th Edition for the "new" exam will be available in march/april - so I have to study until than with the 3rd edition.

p.s. ....do you think a German nurse with "fragmentary" English is able to pass the test???

Thans, Anna
