To those of you with this style of shoe, how loosely do they fit? I ordered my size online (12-12.5 Mens) and they arrived today. If I push my foot forward inside, I have about an inch of space behind my heel. They feel almost like a sandal. I have a feeling this can't be right, but I'm just checking before I send them off for another size.
If this isn't in the right forum, sorry! It seems nursing related, in the sense that nurses are the unofficial experts on footwear while at work.

Can you pm me the site you used to order them? I need some new ones.
I have the Birkenstock clogs, (I don't know what Birkenstock professional looks like) and they are a bit loose with a sandal-like feeling. I've had them a several years and love them. I've always been a hard fit because I'm extra-extra-extra-extra wide and have always had a hard time finding a perfect fit.
Good luck.

mine always fit looser than i would like but maybe with a thicker sock it would be comfortable for you...we spend so much time on our feet that we need something we can just forget our feet when we are at work

I happen to have these shoes. I tried them on at the shoe store before ordering them online. I ended up buying a shoe 2 sizes smaller than my nike's. Im not sure if they are supposed to run super big... I know others who stuff them with insoles.

They're supposed to fit that way. I ADORED my Birki's!!!! It was like walking around barefoot. Plus if you get the polyurethane ones, they're easy to clean.
The insole will "die" overtime; just replace it when it does.
I have been absolutely amazed with them so far. I suffer from chronic low back pain, and after wearing these at work--I have none! However, I guess you're supposed to break them in before wearing them for 8+ hours at a time. My feet and legs were killing the first few days!
Any idea of how long the insole lasts before a replacement (for someone that's on their feet all day)? I'd like to stay on top of the schedule!

Aren't they lovely? I need to get new insoles right now. :)
I got them as a got-my-license present in the summer of 2002, and the insoles officially died in the summer of 2004.
If you can afford it, buy two pairs. The insole is key!
