Shenandoah University ABSN program

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey everyone! I decided to make this post for those who want to attend Shenandoah University in Winchester / Leesburg Virginia. I noticed there aren’t many forums on this school and their nursing program and I’m curious to hear from those who attend the program. I also want to know how the application process is like.

thanks

Hi everyone! I'm interested in this program, but their website is not the most modern/straightforward!! It's a little frustrating, and I hope it's not reflective of the program itself. It's a bit unclear how you apply to this specific program. I thought I had started an application, but then it looks like it's just an app for their whole undergraduate college. Is it just because I missed the deadline for Spring 2021, or am I not seeing something? Thanks!

Hey!! Here is the link to the program application. They are still accepting Spring 2021 applicants and they’re on rolling admissions. It took me awhile to find where to apply to but I hope this helps!! https://www.su.edu/admissions/transfer-students/application-information/

WOW!, thanks so much!! I guess my only other question is which campus to apply to? Not really sure what the difference is, or if one would be more desirable than the other in that it has the majority of the students in the program, or has better facilities?

edit: nevermind, I see that the NoVa campus is the only option for Spring!

Hey I actually just graduated from Shenandoah’s accelerated BSN program. I did two semesters at Winchester and then two at the Leesburg campus. Overall I think the program is pretty good. When I initially applied I didn’t look or compare other schools I chose this campus because they had rolling admissions. I would have to say I enjoyed the Leesburg campus a bit more than the other campus. However some of the professors teach at both campuses. I highly encourage you to not be afraid to ask questions in lecture and in clinical and don’t be afraid to be the guinea pig and go first, you’ll learn so much more!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! I am curious, what made you enjoy the Leesburg campus more than the Winchester campus? Was it the professors or the location? Also how were the classmates in the program?

My cohort was a little smaller at Leesburg, they had decreased in size by a large amount by their third semester. Yes I would have to say the professors definitely made it better but also I think the campus is mainly health professions so you’re surrounded by people pursuing interests in the same field. However the location was not ideal for me, I made a 1.5hr commute 2-3x a week but it was worth it! My classmates from both Winchester and Leesburg were great. I came in late to Leesburg and lived far so I made an awkward entrance but I’m a people person so I quickly made friends. In Winchester my cohort really worked as a group and team we made a GroupMe the first semester which helped keep on up to date and assignments and stuff.

Recently accepted to SU (Winchester) for Fall 2021 and would love the chance to speak with any former students or others attending Fall 2021.
