Shelton State '16 ADN

U.S.A. Alabama

I applied for the Fall 2016 nursing program and am currently waiting to get my letter in the mail. I'm applying with 185 points total. Any comments or advice? Anyone else applying?

Nice! Wish I'd studied so I could've gotten a few extra points!

Has anyone actually called Shelton and asked if the letters have been mailed out yet?

Nope. I figured if none of us has gotten the letter then none has been sent out.

Nope. Although I am anxious and I don't mind asking folks on here, I figure it's best not to keep interrupting progress to make them answer the phone. I've been in plenty of situations where I've wanted to scream at every person who called for a "quick check on things": "I COULD GET IT DONE IF YOU'D STOP ASKING ME IF I'VE GOT IT DONE!"

It's annoying. I'm not going to be that person.

I understand that. I was just curious.

I called because I am going out of town. They said they will be mailed out by the end of this week or beginning of next.

I know I always thought I did my best but I know I could've done better 😩 I should have like 182 points total but idk if that's enough to get in. Fingers crossed

You'll get in. The cut off is usually around 170 but they're supposed to be accepting more than usual this year. Id much rather have your score than mines!

Do you know how the TEAS points are awarded? Is it by percentage? (For example: 50th percentile gets you half the max points) or do they scale them (highest getting all 150 and scaled from there)? I'm assuming the percentile, but I don't know.

And a 182... you just need to kick your feet up and relax, girl! LOL

I wanna say they just use point system! Like if you made a 102 on the teas, they would use that and then add your 10/20/30 points per grade in your sciences and whatnot! And I hope you're right! Haha. I've been a nervous wreck. Good luck to all of you!!

I'm not clear on your question. Are you asking how Shelton awards points based on your TEAS score? If so then whatever you've made on your TEAS is your base points and then, like what was previously said, you get 10 points for a C , 20 for a B, and 30 for an A in either Human Anatomy 1 and 2 and Microbiology. Plus, you get 3 points for having medical experience and I think 6 points for having all of your prerequisites done and a few points for having taking 18 credit hours at Shelton. For example, I made 106 on the TEAS an A in Human Anatomy 1 and an A in Microbiology. I also have medical experience giving me a 169. I hope I helped.
