Shall I inform NMC.

Published

what is the best way to deal the situation when you are under disciplinary investigation just because someone made false allegation.

I was alleged falsely about 3 and half months ago that I refused to give analgesia to a patient looked after by my colleague(the Nurse who was not allowed to give medicines yet) on that day. There is a proof in the drug chart that i have given twice on that day and I made this patient pain free when I look after him 2 days ago.

I came to know patient was in pain in the evening again. Nobody informed me about it at that time, Thus i would not give analgesia. Thus the allegation is fully false. The practice nurse who made allegation must be racist. She is nurse manager now. After 3 and half months, they have not make decision. I guess allegation was made against all of 4 qualified nurses working on that day. Because of this I am in stress but i know i am innocent.

Shall I inform NMC about it.

Please advise.

I wouldn't inform the NMC about it, if your employer thinks your fitness to practice has been impaired then it is them who will inform the NMC and things will progress from there.

What you should do though, is talk to your Union and get their support on this matter. They will be able to advise you and support you through this process.

Thank you for your input however i think it is not fair for me to go through stressful situation while I am innocent. Someone made allegation against me which is totally false and no proof. I think the person who make allegation should be punished. That is why i wanted to inform NMC to remove her Pin. Does this make sense? I mean how that person should be punished? Because obviously that person is lier. I can prove myself that i am innocent. How do I get compensation that I went through that stressful situation.
