Hi everyone! I am hoping to apply to Shadyside School of Nursing in Pittsburgh for Fall 2011. I want to complete some of the non-nursing courses before I start the program. Does anyone know if they will accept an online class...like for Nutrition?? I would really appreciate any info on this!!
THANKS!

They do. You need to have Micro, and A&P 1 and 2 WITH labs, so those you pretty much have to take in person. The rest you can take online. If take them through CCAC, which I am assuming you likely will, its not like they can even tell if it was online or in person.
I am going to Shadysides sister school, St Margaret, and all non nursing classes are not part of the program and must be completed independently, most before starting the program. I have taken them all through CCAC, half as internet, half in person.....there is no difference in how they show up on the transcript.

You can definitely take Micro, A&P 1 and 2, nutrition, growth and development, elsewhere. Just make sure the credits are as much as or more than what Shadyside requires. I transferred in all of these classes and it made getting through nursing school so much easier.
I didn't mean to sound as if you HAD to take those 3 at shadyside. Really those would be the best 3 to get out of the way early if only getting some classes done early, as they are the most time consuming. I just mean that those can not be done online as they require labs, but all other courses can be done online. Can take them at CCAC (and i would recomend to) they just are not offered online.
