Shady Grove in Rockville

U.S.A. Maryland

Published

I've posted this question on the traveler forum; so I'm posting it here if I can get a quicker response:

Is there anyone here ever worked or currently working at Shady Grove Adventist in Rockville, MD; more specifically the PICU. Any information is welcomed. RN:pt ratio; traveler friendly; safe area to live; types of patients; patient acuity?

Thanks

I remember when SGAH used to be known as "Shady Grave", but they have made a complete turn around and is now rated as one of the top hospitals in the county, maybe even the state. I have been a patient at this hospital both when it wasn't doing so well and when they have improved and I can tell you that they have greatly improved.

I know of RN's who worked their in the past and left because of how bad it was, but now have returned because they were so impressed by the great improvements in pt care, staff development, friendly and supportive working environment, and just overall is a great place to work.

I currently work in the ICU and the RN:pt ratio is normally 1:2. I used to think I would never want to work at Shady Grove, but now I feel so blessed to be employed there.

If anyone is interested in finding out more about Shady Grove Adventist Hospital please pm me.

It was the former CEO Breckenridge whose bonus was exactly the amount that would have cost to pay nursing salaries to make up for the critical shortage that got them in trouble a while back (it's all online). They used to be #1 in MD as a magnet hospital...the best of the best. I did 2 rotations there but they had no openings so I worked for another company inside the building just to be there...the karma was awesome back then.

I think CEO Mr. Robertson has turned the place around considering what he had to work with when he stepped in. He's got a conscience and seems to be doing a good job from what I hear. Anyone know what it's like within the past 2 years?

as a home health nurse most of my patients are discharged from Shady Grove. Most give it a negative report and I myself will not go there. Suburban Hospital has a much better reputation.
