Hey all
So today I interviewed with a recruiter and NM for a ICU Step-Down unit. I'd really like this position.. all the staff are very friendly and happy to be at work. There is a lot of room for growth & advancement.
However, they do have more than one opening, and there are several candidates they are interviewing and they won't have their decision until later.
So, tomorrow, when I shadow, would it be appropriate to bring in a food gift? e.g. tray of bagels w/cream cheese, a fruit salad....
Would it be looked upon as "kissing boot" and hurt me, or would it be appropriate?
Thank you :)

IMO, that would come across as kissing boot (or insert other body part here). I don't know if it would hurt your chances...but if it were me, I wouldn't be comfortable coming across as a boot kisser.
I think they'll be more impressed if you show up to shadow knowing your stuff, asking smart questions and assisting them in any way that you can (even if it's with the grunt work), than they would by a few cinnamon bagels. Besides, in an ICU step-down unit, I doubt they'll have much time to even eat the bagels anyway.
Just my
Thanks for your response - on day shift it didnt seem to bad...
I've prepared a bunch of questions... I'm not allowed to be involved in any patient care, because I'm not an employee there.
Not hired = No repercussions if I get injured helping with something.

i hope you did it. something small. it will help you stand out as a generous person and as a wise old man once said, "Nurses respond to food!" lol

Interesting idea, how did it go? What did you decide?
I've got the same opportunity tomorrow. Any lessons learned that you care to share. If you're still in MI we're not competing.
I'm planning on just giving Thank you cards to the NM, Clin I and whomever I shadow.
