Hello,
I earned my B.S. in Health Sciences at UCSC and...well my graduation GPA isn't quite 3.0 (2.92). It's quite low. I'm a very hard working student and I feel that my grades don't reflect on the student I am. I took human phys at UCSC, but had to retake it at SJSU and I got an A. Anyways, I want to apply to get my entry level master's at either USF, SFSU, Samuel Merritt, or Western University. I am scared that I won't get into any of them. I am currently taking the pre-req courses for the programs. Do you think that it is possible to get into the schools I listed above? Any suggestions on how to become a better candidate?
Thanks,
T

im just wondering.. did you apply to sjsu after you received your bachelors from ucsc? im in the same posistion.. going to graduate with a BA from ucd but want to go into nursing (first choice is samuel merritt) but im not sure how to go about it. i need to take and maybe retake pre reqs. where are you taking your pre req's? i would suggest to either do an internship or volunteer at a hospital. It wouldn't hurt to have some experience under your belt =)

Hi There,
@ tlw87: I too am looking at transferring to SFSU for an MSN or Samuel Merritt for a BSN, I'm in the exact same pickle: doing great in other classes (e.g. Phys, Chem), but it doesn't look hopeful for Anatomy.
I have a BA from SFSU (other discipline) and graduated w a 3.75. I currently volunteer at a local Hospital.
Does anyone else have a similar experience, and if so, did it hurt for you to retake a prerequisite?
Any advice would be more than helpful : ) Thank you!
Hello there! Sorry for such a late reply!
Bluenyellow: I was an open university student at SJSU. That means you just go in on the first day of classes, remember to bring all of your transcripts so they can opt you for pre-reqs for that class, and hope to get into the class. It's really nerve wrecking because you don't know if you will be able to get into that class. I was lucky because I managed to get into the lab portion of the class. Honestly, I would take human phys at a JC because it is cheaper and it is probably not as difficult. I took the more difficult human physio (upper division course) rather than taking it at JC because I needed to and also because I'm really interested in human physio. I am now finishing up the rest of my pre-reqs at west valley and I'm also starting to volunteer at SCVMC.
kzimmermann: I don't think it hurts to retake pre-reqs as long as you got a D or F. I talked to the adviser for the program at USF and she said that it is okay to take the course again and they will take the one with the higher grade.
