SFSU ELMSN Fall 2020

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi Everyone! I wanted to start a thread here because I could not find one for this cohort. I applied for the Adult Gerontology CNS track. Anybody know when interview invites will be sent out? ?

Hi everyone! I was wondering what the difference between ELMSN and MSN program are, in regards to jobs after graduation. I know that ELMSNs are for people who already have bachelor degrees in non-nursing areas, but I was wondering what the positives are to pursuing an ELMSN rather than doing a BSN and then MSN. Thank you and hope you all are staying safe and healthy during this time! :)

Heard from some people that CSU East Bay was deferring their 2020 program until Fall 2021 and some other programs will potentially just be shifting to online. Wondering if anyone that's been accepted can tell us if there has been any updates about what SF State will be doing.

hi! so far the SFSU SON has not sent out any updates or emails to us. I think they are waiting for the June 1st acceptance deadline to send out info to us

Hi All! For those of you still on the waitlist, did you receive the email from admissions asking if you’re still interested in the program? Curious now how many spots are open!

I received and filled it out. ?

Has anyone on the waitlist heard anything regarding open seats today?

Hey @Heather_P

I wouldn’t be too concerned about not hearing. The accepted individuals were also supposed to hear about orientation, and we didn’t. So the office may just be running a bit behind an intended schedule!

stay well!

Ah, thanks for the update! I know COVID has affected programs and their timelines in so many ways. Thanks again!

Ugh I'm so torn. I'm already committed and started at another school, but I would've loved to go to SFSU being that it's a lot cheaper and I'm an alumnus.

Hey @jennai96

I’m sure you’ve done all of this, but maybe look at the numbers again? Would it still cost less if you actually started at SFSU and lost the cost of whatever semester you’re currently in? Beyond that, think about longevity of both programs. If one is shorter, in theory you may be able to work to make-up the difference. Beyond just the financial aspect, I would also ask how you feel about the current place you are. Like if you gel with the culture; if professors feel helpful, etc.

(just my thoughts!)

hope it’s at least somewhat helpful!

Has anyone been moved off the waitlist? I haven't heard anything back so I'm assuming I'm still too far down on the list. I was #11 last time I checked, which was about a week ago. I have accepted an offer to another school, but SFSU is 1/3 the cost of where I plan on attending and I prefer the speciality at SFSU?

I've been #1 on the waitlist since March and the same when I checked last week and hadn't heard back. They did start pulling people from the waitlist for their BSN program on Monday, so I think they'll get back to us soon.

I'm in the same boat with you although I'm already in my 3rd week of classes at another program. I also like the specialty offered at SFSU since I applied for the pediatrics and the tuition is 1/2 the cost of my current program.
