SFSU ELM-A Spring 2021

Published

Hi everyone,

I wanted to start a group for those of us who applied to SFSU for the Spring 2021 ELM-A program. I'm hoping we can share admissions updates while we await our admissions decisions...
Good luck to you all!

Hi everyone,

I applied to SFSU  for the Spring 2021 BSN but unfortunately I didn't get in but I was offered Health Education instead.  I'm so confused, not sure if I should go that route then go ELMSN. Who knows the possible of getting in the program immediately after graduation. I need an advice please. My goal is to be a nurse.

Hey yall!

Just got a waitlist update this morning! I was accepted! So excited to join this cohort!

Congrats dear, I am happy for you.

Do you mind sharing your stats and your previous major, was it a non nursing major? I am planning on going that  route since I didn’t get in the BSN program but not sure what to expect.

Hello!

So I went to SFSU initially for prenursing but decided to get my degree in kinesiology (emph: exercise & movement) and had around a 3.5 GPA (last 60u). I worked as a caregiver for adults with disabilities for the last 3 years as well as volunteered in the intermediate care telemetry/ stroke unit at my local hospital for 2 years. I am also proficient in ASL/SEE and Tagalog.

I initially did this route because I'm also passionate about human movement and exercise and eventually want to specialize in orthopedics once I am a nurse. This program is also a lot easier to get into than the regular BSN program at state, therefore taking the non-nursing undergrad to entry-level nursing was more attractive to me. It also depends though because I feel, if you just want to be an RN and do bedside nursing doing an ABSN is a better route to take. Usually, entry-level master's programs are only really worth the time and money when you want to become a clinical nurse specialist or a nurse practitioner.

Hope this was helpful!

Hello,

I appreciate your time and it’s very helpful. I got accepted into the Health Education major    When couldn’t get in the BSN So I will take that route then. Thanks.

Hey Everyone!

I am currently 2nd on the waitlist...does anyone who has been accepted know if the cohort is full? I know that there is a deadline this week for accepted students to make a decision so I am curious if anyone thinks there might be more movement on the waitlist this week. Thanks!

Hi @eksf, have you heard anything back from the waitlist recently? Also, what number were you initially on the list? Just keeping my hopes up, haha thanks!

Hey @MA03

I was originally 5th on the waitlist and now I am 1st...not totally sure if there will be anymore movement or what kind of timeline the admissions department is working. I just keep emailing once a week :) Good luck, hang in there!

You’re right there! Goodluck to you! Thank you, I was originally number 8, so hopefully I’ll get in!

@MA03 So are you!! Thinking positive thoughts for us both ?

How did your interviews go? Any recommendations for someone who is thinking of applying for next year?
