SFSU ELM-A Spring 2021

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone,

I wanted to start a group for those of us who applied to SFSU for the Spring 2021 ELM-A program. I'm hoping we can share admissions updates while we await our admissions decisions...
Good luck to you all!

Thank you for posting this!  I look forward to hearing from the other applicants in the future.  ?

Thanks for starting this thread! I applied just in time (literally got my SF State Grad ID on 9/1) for the women's health CNS track. My goal is to do mother-baby nursing or work at a women's clinic for a bit and then take advantage of the 1 year FNP option. Would love to hear about everyone's specialties!

My grades are good but a bit concerned that my GRE writing score was only 4.5 and my volunteer/health related experience isn't related to the specialty I applied for (I've been working as an in-home caregiver for people with dementia). I was set up to volunteer at a hospital in a mother-baby unit and also considering doula training but COVID-19 got in the way!

Does anyone know when we should expect to hear about interviews or next steps? The other Spring start program I'm applying to makes admissions notifications in October.

Hey there!  I believe on the website it says that notifications will be sent out approximately 10 weeks after the application due date, so I guess we can expect emails at the latest by mid November?

Hey Everyone!

I have also applied to the ELM-A program at SFSU.

I contacted admissions regarding the timeline for acceptance/rejection letters as well as interviews and they wrote back informing me that they are currently reviewing applications and will send out invitation emails to applicants selected (in a prior allnurses posts a majority of the writers said that they received them in the last week of October, but I'm not sure now because of COVID). They will have virtual interviews during the first week of November and will send out final decisions in mid-November.

Hope this information was useful. Wish you all the best!

@msy that's really helpful! Thanks and good luck to all of you who applied ?

Hey all,

We should be hearing back from admissions any day now, no?

Hopefully sooner than later!

I was wondering if anyone else received a financial aid award from the school? I was really confused about the offer and the schools timeline with sending out awards for aid.

thanks!

Congrats you guys! I received an invitation this morning as well.

Good luck to anyone still waiting!

If anyone has any information about the interview process please post! I learned from past forums that they ask questions about past experiences where you've displayed a certain quality or something along those lines. I have a couple of friends that completed the SFSU BSN program that I'll probably ask as well, but with COVID, the interview style has changed from a group interview to what I'm guessing is a one on one interview on Zoom.
