SFSU BSN fall 2021

Published

I haven't seen a page for fall yet so thought I would start one. Let me know if you applied and have heard anything about interviews.

@TiaLNon @relatable I hope this helps! My TEAS was 89.3% pre-req GPA was 4.0, cumulative GPA was 3.6, I have 100+ volunteering hours and 2000+ medical hour working as a medical receptionist. I am bilingual in english and vietnamese. I don't have any certification or license. In my opinion my stats isn’t competitive but I got accepted. So I think the interview also plays a big part in the admission process which is why I liked SFSU SON. I feel like they aren’t just picking students based on their stats but they are picking them based on their personality and traits.

Hi everyone,

Class of Spring 2022 here finishing up my second semester of pandemic nursing school.  SF State was my number one choice among the schools I applied to - local ADN’s, none of the private schools because of debt worries.

If I knew what I know now about this school, I would have chosen CCSF or Chabot where I was also accepted. I’d even go into debt at SMU or USF had I applied and been accepted.

As it stands now, we are the only school in the area that will not have in-person labs this Fall, and will probably have 50% in-person clinical hours, other half vSim while other schools go back to normal curricula.

Also whatever they flaunt about their social justice focus, or whatever you may expect from SF State’s historical role in racial justice, we actually have really out of touch faculty with no fluency in discussing race or gender.

I know nursing school is hard everywhere and never fun right before finals, but I’m begging you to reconsider. This school is awful. Again, even if COVID restrictions allow it, the president of SFSU Lynn Mahoney will not let us be on campus more than one day this Fall 2021 (it’s a circus known as Mega Skills day). We are pushing back with everything we have, but SoN administration doesn’t care. The only hope for you if you a choose SF State is that Mary Ann Van Dam is retiring in shame at the end of Spring.

Noticed this thread's been pretty dead since the most recent post. Not gonna lie, kinda freaked me out, but I only got into one other school and SFSU's program just fits my needs a lot better right now.

Anyhow, if any of you are still planning on attending this fall, I created a Google group for our cohort and if there isn't already a facebook group I'm down to make one, too, and if there is, let me know so I can join it!

Hi!! I will also be attending SFSU in the fall! Do you think you can make a facebook group? I’d been trying to find out how to connect with other nursing students

Hello all,

I am a currently nursing student at SFSU. While I can understand the anger the other nursing student have regarding online clinical due to the school being unable to find in-person clinical due to covid restrictions, there are always two sides to a story. The nursing faculty have been trying their best to find clinical for us in person. As a result, due to the positive turn of the pandemic, my clinical this semester is in person.

Moreover, I personally enjoy the program and what it has to offer. Lastly, I would not rather go into debt than take this opportunity.
