SF Bay Area Prereqs?

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi all-

I am thinking I'd making a career change into nursing. I am from the SF Bay Area and I have not only a few prereqs for general ed still needed but also prereqs to get into any nursing program. My question is, I know the community colleges have already started for the semester last week, but are there any online schools that are accredited to transfer over. Not sure if CA nursing schools take online labs and also, what online schools do they accept?

I am not exactly sure of my journey. I do intend on getting a BSN, however it may be more affordable to go the ADN and then BSN route. Also, I know it's incredibly competitive to get into schools like cal state east bay... even in the local JCs... but I thought I may have more luck getting into a JC for an ADN program.

Anyway, thank you all so much!

Try to get into any BSN program, if you cannot then go JCs route.

Difference?

BSN is more linear. School > NCLEX > Start your career

ADN has an extra step. School > NCLEX > start your career (if you are able to get a job due to hospitals looking for BSN) > back to school 1 more year

Consider applying to all eligible CSU nursing programs for BSN (have an open mind in relocating)

Yes competition in the Bay Area is very high, but don't let that stop you from applying.
