I make all my own tops, for about 8$ a peice. It is fun to have tops for every holiday and season. they are actually very easy to make and dont take alot of skill!! I also make vests, which are nice for in the winter- it is always cold in the facility I work at in the winter! so a vest with a light turtle neck or long sleeve tee is nice too.
I tore apart my favorite scrubs and make my own. Get alot of compliments. I usually make about 4 when I get started. I like a set in sleeve and 2 deep pockets with side slits and a breast pocket. I used to work in a sewing factory years ago and that comes in handy. Just got my computer about 3 wks ago though and wonder if I'll ever have time to do any of my favorite hobbies again, especially since finding this site.
I love making my own uniform tops. They fit me. They have two huge pockets and one breast pocket.
There is so much attractive fabric out there and, like other mentioned, it's great to have different tops for all the different seasons and not spend a mint to buy them.
Once I had a pattern figured out that was comfortable and fit me well, I bought some inexpensive muslin fabric and made a more perminant pattern that doesn't disappear, tear, and fall appart like the tissue paper ones do. I've been using the same muslin pattern for over a year now and it's still going strong.
My newest addiction, though, is custom knitted socks in colors that match the different uniform tops that I make. Definitely not as fast to make as one of the tops but I get major relaxation from knitting and I always feel so much better after I've been knitting a while. Socks are small enough to take with you most everywhere and I do it when in lines, when waiting for appointments, etc. I no longer get aggrivated when I have to wait because I'm doing something constructive.

i've never made my own, but i've had family members and friends make me some. some of my faveorite scrubs are the hand made ones because they're so unique and no one else has them... plus they were made to fit MY body and they're ultra comfy. a friend of mine actually sewed me a black top and black pants and had an aerosmith logo embroidered on it! how rockin....
