Hello. I have recently submitted an application to the Seton residency program for the Feb 2017 cohort and I wanted to know if anyone else is applying right now or if a past applicant could give me some insight on the program & application process. Thanks!!

Yeah, I had to skip class go. I'm at ut tyler

I liked that school! Are you from Austin or anything? I've literally only been there once and know nothing about the city.

Yep! I grew up outside of Austin in Pflugerville, Tx. I love the city but not trying to live in the heart of it. Traffic can get pretty horrific!! Plus the closer downtown you are, the more expensive the cost of living is if you want to stay in a somewhat decent place. Super chill though and PLENTY of cool things to get into. Great place for live music if you like that kind of thing and a whole bunch of amazing food places!

A lot of outdoor stuff to do like kayaking, hiking, biking or whatever else as well!

Just had my phone interview and recieved the email to start applying for jobs!!

How did it go?? I don't have mine until Friday!

It went well! They did ask a few interview questions though like why do you want to work for seton, tell me about a time when you and someone else disagreed in your clinical rotation, then he read their mission statement and values and asked how would I incorporate those values through my nursing care, and why do I want to be a nurse. Thankfully I went on 2 interviews yesterday so I was pretty prepared already lol but afterwards he asks where you want to work and what units so he can forward your responses to those managers. You can still apply to all the jobs you want to though.

Oh okay that doesn't sound too bad! I have this phone interview on Friday and another on Thursday and i'm so nervous i'm gonna screw them up lol. What other interviews did you go to? I'm really unsure on if I should apply to St. Davids as well.

I went on two interviews at St. David's Main in dowtown Austin and hit it off great with the staff. I recieved a informal job offer for the IMU/Tele unit and I'm waiting to hear back from the recruiter to see if I got the job at the ER. They're only accepting 2 GNs though so it's kind of a long shot but I think my interview went really well so we'll see!

That's great!! Hopefully you get the ER position! Have you heard any good things about St. Davids? I've gotten conflicting opinions on their system from multiple people so I wasn't sure if I should apply?

Same here. My friend did his respiratory therapist clinicals at different st David's locations and said he like the main downtown austin location the best. When I was interviewing with them they said that they're going to have better staff to nurse ratios by Jan 1st I believe because they're opening a new segment of the hospital so that's good. One of my other friends is a nurse at the main location and she likes it as well. I haven't heard the best things about the north Austin location and I believe that st. David's doesn't pay as much as seton but idk how much seton pays

Oh okay! I was gonna look into them but i'm undecided. Hey, when they sent you that email and applied for the actual units what did you put for license/certification? The instructions are telling me to put GN but that isn't an option and BLS certification isn't an option as well??
