Seton Hall Second degree nursing 2013

U.S.A. New Jersey

Published

Hello everyone,

I want to ask for information about the second degree nursing at Seton Hall. My biggest concern is tuition. First of all, do you have any suggestion where to get the student loan besides Fafsa? And second of all, assuming I get the loan, is it worth it? How realistic is it to repay the $60.000-$75.000 loan after graduation? Does SHU diploma stand out from others? Does it matter if I go to SHU or, let's say, the College of NJ which is twice as cheaper?

Is it possible to work during the program? Do we have the classes every day Monday through Friday? Is it possible to take some classes online?

I will have to work to support myself, and I plan to commute to the school from Mt Laurel, NJ which is an hour and a half away. Do you think that's manageable or should I get a room and find a job in the area?

I appreciate any comments, any opinion and any support.

Thank you!

Stacy

Hey! I was also accepted and I'm trying to figure out cost as well. It is possible to take out a private loan from a bank if you're looking to do that.

I am personally going to try to work during the program. I know it is extremely hard to work during accelerated nursing programs but I think since it is longer than accelerated programs, it will be more manageable and realistic. I do think that with your long commute, working may be a little more difficult. I think you may find that living/working in the area may make more sense but it is whatever you think you can afford/manage. I will be commuting from Roxbury which is roughly 45 minutes away.

Do you know anything about sending in a deposit? It doesn't say anything about it in my packet. I have a provisional acceptance pending my completion of organic chem and ethics. I'm just not sure how securing our spots in the program works.

Thanks!

Kimberly

Hi Kimberly,

Thanks for your reply.

I am also still doing my Medical Ethics class. I don't know about deposit. I guess we have to contact the school and find out. I suppose we should get another letter.

That's exactly what I thought, it should be possible to work as it is a two year program.

Congratulations with acceptance. It is exiting. And I hope everything will work out beautifully :). The cost of the program still worries me a lot but I will try to work it out.

Talk to you soon. If I find out anything new I will post it on here.

Hi Kimberly again,

I just called the SHU. And they said that my application is still being processed, and that I should get another letter in a week or two. I think the same applies to you .

Hi everyone!

Just wanted to see if this discussion is about the 22-month BSN Program offered in South Orange, NJ (SHU Main Campus) or the 14-month Accelerated BSN Program offered in Lakewood, NJ (on the Georgian Court campus).

Personally,

I am referring to the 22 month BSN program in South Orange, NJ.
