Sentra Healthcare info

Thinking of moving to the coastal area of Va latter this year, it looks like sentra is the big system in this area and was wondering if anyone had some information on RN rates and how the benefits for the system are.

Possible areas of works are ED where ive been for the past 7 years or a possible move to cath lab.

@ 7 years as an RN I imagine you'll start somewhere around $24/hr? cath lab uses mostly techs; you'd work in the care unit (recovery, stuff like that) if you wanted to work around the cath lab.

Specializes in Emergency.

Actually, contrary to popular belief, Bon Secours is the biggest hospital system in the area. I have worked for both, and I like Bon Secours better both for pay grade and benefits. And as an experienced RN you will make more than $24/hr, esp in the ER, and there are shift differentials as well. PM me, we'll talk.

Sentara has 7 hospitals in Hampton Roads, basically in almost every city so there is one close to where you might decide to live. With experience in a speciality you should have no problem obtaining an interview.

Sentara is a giant, but i've heard bad things about them from most employees that came from them to either bon secours or chesapeake regional.

I applied to all 3 when i moved here, got exactly the same price within cents, and ive gone through orientation at both bon secours and chesapeake regional. like most hospitals anywhere, there's the same issues that plague every hospital.

point being: take your pick based on location and unit of hire. the pay is the same, the issues are the same ( for the major part), and best of all, you can apply elsewhere if you don't like it.

coastal VA is a huge military population, nurses don't stay for too long( hence the small pay )
