Sentara 2017 Start Date

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello! I am planning to apply to Sentara College of Health Sciences for their 2017 start date. I am making this thread in hopes that I will find some other people applying for this start date so that I can get a better idea of the GPA and teas scores that others have that are applying. I was also hoping to get advice from current or former Sentara students regarding the admissions process and teas testing. Also any important information about the program and deadlines. Thanks in advance! :)

I went to one of the open transcript reviews after my 1st TEAS and I was told that I have an extremely solid GPA and encouraged to just aim to raise my TEAS. I scored a 76.7% the first time. I retested after I went to the transcript review and I unfortunately only got a 78.7% I was hoping for much higher on my second TEAS considering the website states that the average for January 2015's acceptance was an 85.5%! I'm hoping that won't be the case with this particular years acceptance considering I scored lower than that. Every one that I know / have spoken to (about 7 different girls) have tested between 60-80% I haven't heard higher than that for this particular application deadline!

@mccuejl55 have you taken your TEAS for the second time? If so how did you score?

It is so nice to hear from others dealing with the application process!!

@baker93 when are you scheduled to take your TEAS? If you would like to share your score after feel free to write back on here! I like to get an idea of how others are scoring!! Good luck!

Km123, whats your gpa? And i take it tomorrow and i will post the results when i get them. I really don't forsee me doing well as ive only been studying for 3 days and with a baby that was limited. But im usually good at test taking so we will see. Im just super nervous but hopefully my gpa will account for a lack of a good teas score

I'm sure you will do great!! Studying for the TEAS is hard anyway because the questions it asks are so random and it's almost impossible to study it all either way :)

I have a 3.8 GPA. so your GPA is better than mine and that is great! I was told at the transcript review that it's basically like 55% GPA 45% TEAS scores!

Thanks. I took a practice test last night that just gave a percentage correct and it was 77% but i was also beyond exhausted. So im not feeling to confident right now. But they told me about 400 applicants and 80ish spots. I guess we will see its just going to have to depend on how everyone else did

I only got an 84.7 but the percentile was 95. Not feeling very confident now:/ i know my gpa is good but i really needed a good teas score.

An 84.7 is good. The average on their website is a 85.5.

Yeah and studying for only 3 days i guess its not really bad at all. Just hoping it is good enough. I have alot riding on getting in :/

Hi there, I applied for the 2017 bsn program as well. My GPA is 3.8 and my teas score was an 82.7. I only had time to take the teas once so I'm crossing my fingers hoping that I get in. Are any of you applying elsewhere? I'm thinking about also applying to riverside and doing the concurrent program because riverside is closer to me.

Does anyone know what the schedule is like if we get accepted?

Nope all eggs in one basket. I actually live in north carolina. Hubby is in the military. I may apply to programs where im at but none are nationally accredited. Good luck your scored are good. I have 3.9 and 84.7. Hoping we all get in. I do have the same question about the schedule though.

@lakmom12, I retook the teas and basically got the same score I got the first time. I did not have any time to study in between because I was racing to finish chemistry before the application deadline while also working full-time . :(

I am really nervous now because everyone I am seeing commenting is scoring in the 80%'s. Although a 78% is not far off, I am hoping that a 3.7 GPA will help too. I guess its just a waiting game now! 15 DAYS!!!

Did anyone get an email confirming their application is submitted and ready for review?

No....was i suppose to?
