Sentara BSN 2018 applicants
I don't remember exactly when I found out my class schedule but I think it was pretty close to the start of classes. I don't know if they have changed it but for my first semester we were not able to pick our classes/schedules at all they set it all up for us and then told us what we had. For my second semester I was able to fill out a form that showed you the professor and they day/time, it didn't mean that I would get those particular classes but my advisors looked at it and filled out my schedule trying to give everyone one of their top choices for the classes that are divided up. (some of the classes the whole program will be there together for). Orientation for my class was offered two different days the week before classes started, they sent an email and allowed you to RSVP for whichever day worked better for you.

@alexandra_iris I accepted your request but I don't think it will let me use the private message feature because it says you have to have made 15 posts to use it. My first semester I took five classes and was on campus 2 days a week. The class itself was divided so people went at different days/times. Like some had Tuesday/Thursday classes, some wednesday/Thursday.. etc.

@Nurseuback2health You're welcome. The program is great but it is a LOT of work. Patho is a very tricky class (I had to take that my first semester, not sure if the order of the classes is staying the same because I heard some changes are being made) My class did not have a clinical our first semester. I will be doing my first clinical in August on a med/surg floor (1 day a week for 10 hours + 4 other classes that will require me to be on campus for 2 days a week - some people have their classes spread out so they have a clinical day and 3 on campus days) Congrats to all that got in! If you got waitlisted do NOT give up hope. I have heard of multiple people that came off the waitlist that are in my class now.

@Marvella as of right now I have not applied anywhere else! I was also interested in looking into the Riverside program but I have not done that yet! @mccuejl55 we are in similar situations! I got a 78.7% on my TEAS and I have a 3.8 GPA.. Now all we can do is wait until June 30th and hope for the best!! @mccuejl55 @Baker93 Yes I received an email from Sentara on May 25th saying that they had received my application with a letter document attached that was thanking me for applying to the program.

An 84.7 is good. The average on their website is a 85.5.

I'm sure you will do great!! Studying for the TEAS is hard anyway because the questions it asks are so random and it's almost impossible to study it all either way :) I have a 3.8 GPA. so your GPA is better than mine and that is great! I was told at the transcript review that it's basically like 55% GPA 45% TEAS scores!

I went to one of the open transcript reviews after my 1st TEAS and I was told that I have an extremely solid GPA and encouraged to just aim to raise my TEAS. I scored a 76.7% the first time. I retested after I went to the transcript review and I unfortunately only got a 78.7% I was hoping for much higher on my second TEAS considering the website states that the average for January 2015's acceptance was an 85.5%! I'm hoping that won't be the case with this particular years acceptance considering I scored lower than that. Every one that I know / have spoken to (about 7 different girls) have tested between 60-80% I haven't heard higher than that for this particular application deadline! @mccuejl55 have you taken your TEAS for the second time? If so how did you score? It is so nice to hear from others dealing with the application process!! @baker93 when are you scheduled to take your TEAS? If you would like to share your score after feel free to write back on here! I like to get an idea of how others are scoring!! Good luck!

Hello! I am so glad you decided to comment on this post. I just recently turned in my application and finished with both of my attempts on the TEAS test! If I think of any questions along the way I will be sure to post here to see if you can help me! As of right now I just have two main questions! What did you score on your TEAS test and do you know how anyone else scored that was accepted into the program? My other question is did you receive any type of confirmation that they received all of the parts of your application and TEAS scores? I'm just curious if I will ever be told that they received it all or if that is something I should check up on. If you have any tips or anything that you want to share about the application process or the program definitely share it with me! I'd love to hear about it. Congrats on being a senior! Hopefully that will be me eventually!

I hope you are doing well with your application process to Sentara! :) I retook my TEAS this week and got a 78.7%! My score increased but not as much as I wanted it to. Have you retaken yours yet?

Hello! Sorry my reply is so late. Hopefully you'll see this. In response to your last question no I have no finished my classes that are no prereqs yet. After this semester I still have to take 3 classes (that aren't required to apply) but I will be taking them in the Fall. I just got my scores back for my first attempt at the TEAS and I received a 76.7%.. Funny because you got a 76 on your first try too. I did score above the national and program mean in all 4 sections so I am happy about that. Hoping my second time around I can do close to or better than the 85.5% Sentara states as their mean for acceptance. My worst section was math. I managed to score in the 88 & 89 percentile for science so I'm happy about that. I haven't scheduled my second TEAS yet, but I'm planning on taking it toward the end of April / beginning of May. Have you retaken your TEAS for the second time yet?? What was your score?? And do you know how to find out what your combined score is between the two test? Is it given to you on the score transcript or do you not have a way of finding it out. Good luck if you have not already retaken the TEAS V!! :)

My email let me know that someone had replied!! So great to hear from someone else applying when I am. I am about to schedule my first teas test date, and I'm a little nervous for it! I have a few quick questions if you don't mind answering some of them that would be super helpful to me! Which location did you test at and were you also told there is no time period you have to wait before retaking the test for the second time? A 76 is not bad at all to have not studied for the test. I have purchased the manual and looked over it just a little bit. I will have to post back after I take the teas and receive my score. Feel free to share any helpful tips or information about your experience signing up/ taking the teas! I need all the tips I can get. Also I have taken all of the classes required to apply for the program but I have not yet submitted my application. I received A's in all of the classes "required" to apply, except for A&P 1 where I got a B! Thanks for taking the time to reply to my board post, once again it is so nice to hear from someone dealing with the same process as me. :)

Sentara 2017 Start Date
Hello! I am planning to apply to Sentara College of Health Sciences for their 2017 start date. I am making this thread in hopes that I will find some other people applying for this start date so that I can get a better idea of the GPA and teas scores that others have that are applying. I was also hoping to get advice from current or former Sentara students regarding the admissions process and teas testing. Also any important information about the program and deadlines. Thanks in advance! :)
