Do you think more people are passing the cpne lately? i seem to see a lot of people on here that have passed. so encouraging!!! but there are a lot of dvd's and study guides now that are out there to assist so maybe thats why. what are your thoughts?

Do you think excelsior college is becoming more leniant or are the students just better informed of what to expect?

better informed! i tried this progam over 3 yrs ago and never even took the first exam....now with facebook, other third party websites, videos, notes, etc and the internet i swear gets bigger and bigger every year, i learned so much this year and finally applied and look where im at now!

I think it's more info. I found so many resources that I did not know about 3 years ago. I hope for those that have passed, that we help those who need to take there CPNE.

I agree with the other posters that there is more material available. There is definitely more and more information coming out all the time, more workshops, more focused material and videos. Companies and individuals are breaking down the "carjack" CPNE manual into something more manageable, and more people are understanding the material.

At the same time, however, I can't say whether it's that more people are passing, or more people are coming onto sites like this to (rightfully) brag about their accomplishments. I would like to see the official pass rates posted by Excelsior. But, they probably won't ever do that, as it would discourage people from entering the program.

In my CPNE group, we had six students, and only two of them passed (myself included, thankfully). Two of those six were second-timers, and they were both unsuccessful.

The latest School of Nursing catalog has the pass rate for 2009: 62% (page 17, top left column). The last time they updated it, it was 59%, and that was in 2007. Now I don't know if that's first time testers, or overall pass rate, or how they're calculating it. No clue!

this website is the whole reason that I had started this program! I was scared to death of it before, I had heard so many horror stories, and now I wish I had started it sooner! I have found so many helpful resources on here and everyone's success stories are very inspiring :-)

I've never seen that before. Thanks for pointing it out. I've done several Google searches and looked through all the Excelsior material, but I was never able to find anything. Weird that they just kinda sneak that in there like that. I also wonder, as you mentioned, if that's the first-time takers or if that's the overall pass rate. :D

i also wonder if more people just post about passing than failing. i have three friends that have taken it within the last couple of months and all 3 failed. there were 6 in my group and i know for sure that only 4 made it back the 3rd day (aside from me don't know how many of those 3 passed).
