I have been a nurse for 13 yrs and I have become very dissatified with the current state of healthcare. I have a very strong interest in alternative medicine. I can currently have my ADN and I am considering returning to school. Anyone with suggestions for best avenue to pursue education and certification in Holistic Nursing?

I have done energy healing for years and recently got my ADN. I started my BSN online at Grand Canyon University and the first class actually has a couple of chapters on Holistic nursing and using alternative therapies such as Reiki, chakras, meridans, emotional and energy healing.
There are hospitals that use alternative healing on their cancer floors.
I have taken emotional clearing type classes and now I am seeing through this BSN class how I can blend traditional nursing with holistic nursing.
Have you looked over the American Holistic Nurses Association? Here is a link to finding a Holistic nursing network near you.

Good luck!

Hello. I recently looked at CPMC's web site in San Francisco for holistic nursing. Check their web at

Hope that helps.

I am trying to do a pilot study on my oncology unit for a tranquility room that would be for staff and caregivers. I am on the research council, and what I am trying to do is bring some of these therapies into the hospital setting as integrative care.. That seems to be a slow go, but I am just "dripping" the ideas, not trying to "flood them"...So hopefully they will be open...
