Hello, TIA for reading! I am currently stationed in Guam with my husband and plan on attending the University of Guam to get my BSN while here. however I've heard that a lot of locations will not hire you in the states? Does anyone know if this is true or had trouble themselves? Who would I contact to confirm this information? Just scared to waste any time or money! Any advice or info would be great, thank you!

Is it an accredited school? Do you have any idea where you might PCS to after Guam? If so, I would check with the local hospitals and ask them.
Also, you might consider the VA system or the military health care system - you only need a license in one state to work in them in ANY state.
Would you be able to get licensed while in Guam? Transferring credits is a bear.
My husband did 23 years in the Air Force and I started my nursing career while he was active duty - ugh is about all I can say:
We were stationed at Nellis (Las Vegas) and thought that it was for awhile so I started school there, got finished with the LPN portion and was starting on the RN year when ooops...he came down on orders to Ft Ben (Indianapolis). So, I transferred there with an LPN license and tried to get into a LPN to RN program - waiting list years long. So...went to private school (read $$$$) and got my ADN. Then, he retired and we moved to IL. I practiced for 8 years and then got a BSN, MSN and then eventually two post-MSN certs.
Yes, it would have been better had I been able to get a BSN right from the beginning, but as we both know, the best laid plans don't always work out.
Best wishes.

It appears to have both ACEN and regional accreditation: Accreditation Home | University of Guam
As far as hiring preferences, that is something that you simply won't know, especially if you don't know where you're going! But a BSN from an accredited school plus success with the NCLEX-RN should be sufficient. You will meet people who think you are a foreign grad, though.
Thank you for responding I plan on calling around to see what they say? Where should I go about calling human resources or a local school? Thanks again!
