Second time is a Charm. Passed Nclex!

Published

I am new on allnurses, I found the website after I failed nclex 1st time, and yes, the website contributed to my success the 2nd time. My problem started when my school did not send our info to get the att on time. I graduated in May 2011 but got my att july, I originally scheduled nclex for july 16, but decided to change date (bad idea) to july 6 (10 days early), i felt i could do since some type A students did thier's a day after we got our att (2nd lesson, work at ur own pace).

We did kaplan review a week before graduation and had access to kaplan for 3months, i did all Qbank and Qtrainers, a day before nclex i did trainer7 got 58% but still went for exam. I lacked confidence on my exam day and i wished i could change the date but toooo late. I went for it anyway, I totally lost it when i saw the 76thQ, I spent more time counting how many people left in the testing center, and racing thru the exam (forgotting that the exam is mine and that it doesn't matter if i was by myself in the whole building). I went all the way to the 265Q.

I got home sadly but hoping I passed, I did PVT and confirmed I failed. I have never been that depressed, everyone around me was walking on nails trying not to upset me the more. deep down me i knew i didn`t study enough but went for it bcos i was a strong B student back in school. (Nclex is not just how booksmart you are).

Atfer 3days Igot myself together and started studying full force, (from july 10th till sept 1st), bought NSCBN 5weeks course (yes NSCBN review is a hard and challenging course) and kaplan strategy book, did from 150qs to 250qs aday, from NSCBN, KAPLAN, NCLEX 3500, 4000,

also refreshed my last medsurg class in school. I gave it all i got.... and prayed like 1 million times aday.

A day before nclex, i studied till 5pm (just Qs), gave my family the loved i denied them since i failed, at some point i wanted to changed date becos i felt i wasn't ready still, but my spouse insisted i go for it,(that meant a lot to me, i needed that feeling of someone believing in me). I did 8am and dressed shabbly 1st time (and i failed) so i completly did the opposite, I scheduled 12noon and dressed VERY SHARP feeling like a winner, got there 11am and was allowed to start 11:30am.

When i saw my 1st Qs a calculation, I stopped and prayed and reminded God how much i want to pass this exam, I spent at least 4mins on each Qs rewording and understanding it. I got 11 SATA, 9meds, 1cal, 6Infection controls, and couple of priorities and delegations. I was lucky no heart rythms, OB, hot spot. I knew i passed when it shuts off at 75. Got home did PVT and got the good pop up. I am so grateful to God and this website (I got hope from people stories though I try to avoid reading all the "HELP, I FAILED NCLEX" stories, just to avoid getting more depressed and scared! No offence to anyone pls.) Nclex is just and exam, and very doable, dont give up, you will PASS.:nurse:

congratulations!! that's awesome~

i think is the mistake many of us are ready to do... go too fast... the way i see it is, no matter how many, the important is that you do them correctly, so i think i will spend time answering them...

ps: i agree, i rarely read those, they may depress us and make it look more difficult to pass.

congratz!!!oh,you inspired me!

is there a website for the nclex 4000??

i don't know where to get it..thanks
