Second-Entry Nursing Programs - 2014 Hopeful

Published

Hi Everyone!

I'm starting this topic for those who are applying to 2nd-entry programs, to start in 2014.

A bit about myself:

I'll be applying to University of Ottawa and University of Toronto.

Graduated with a Social Science degree from Ottawa U w/ 7.2 CGPA (aka 3.33 on 4.0 scale, or a B+)

A lot of community involvement in health promotion, youth counseling programs, women's health research..

Currently taking the prerequisites...

I'm kind of nervous about the applications because I know how competitive these programs are... Any advice from current 2-year BScN students would be great!

Let's get this thread going

You can't extend offer deadlines, but it doesn't matter..... you can accept an offer and then cancel it if you get in to your dream school.

Well, $500 is not pocket change for me, so it does matter, but thank you for letting us know about your talk with OUAC

okay thanks! But how did they know that you've volunteered at the hospital? I don't remember any supplementary application :/

Hey guys!

I've been accepted to the 2nd-Entry Programs at Humber and Trent so far, still waiting to hear from York, McMaster and Western. My GPA (last 60 credits) is 3.64/4 and my cGPA is 2.87/4 (had a really bad first year). Currently at York.

It's unfortunate that my top two choices (McMaster and York) take into consideration my cGPA but I'm hoping for the best.

Good luck everyone!

On the OUAC application there was a section for activities and I wrote it in there. Also for Queen's there was a supplementary application.

@shaylynn27 my name is on the waiting list also at uOttawa. Did u hear something from them yet ?

Do all the schools require an admission deposit?

Yes, to secure your spot. If a deposit wasn't required, people could withdraw last minute, which would leave the university without a student to fill the spot. Requiring a deposit and having a deadline by which you need to respond ensures that they're not stuck with unfilled spots in the program.

I just don't remember paying a deposit for my undergrad. Maybe it is because these programs are considerably smaller.

I think it has something to do with these schools having rolling admissions.
