If your previous job experience or skills/knowledge are relevant, it may be an asset. However, unless that previous job was in healthcare or human services, a potential employer may not believe it adds any value. In that case, it would be up to you to make the connection. For example, if you were a waitress, you can let them know about your customer service expertise & ability to prioritize.
If hospitals in your area have made a commitment to reach a BSN staffing goal, they may have shut the door on new grad ADNs no matter how wonderful your skills are. . . I know it's hard, but try not to take it personally.
Best of luck to you in your job search

I will be starting an ADN program in the fall. This will be a career change for me. I already have a BS. Unfortunately, a direct entry/accelerated program was not an option for me (I had a little difficulty in the grades department back then).
Although its a long way off, what's been your experience with second career job hunting as a new graduate? Does an unrelated BS degree help or hurt job prospects? Any interview questions to be prepared for? Anything you wish you did differently?
thanks for your input!
