Hello!
I hope I am posting this question in the correct thread/section. I'm a senior nursing student from Cleveland, about to graduate in Jan 2016. I am looking extremely hard to find a nurse residency in the Seattle area. I was confused about UW's nursing residency program. It seems that it's listed as a "job posting" rather than a typical application. For example, UCLA's RN Residency program is very clear. Applications are due Oct 5-11 and interview invites sent out in November and you will hear back if you are accepted in December.
I'm just a bit confused about UW's program and how it works.
Also, I was wondering if anyone knew if Swedish's Residency program dates are only in July, August and November? Will I have to wait that long and go on without a job (once I pass my NCLEX) until July?
Thank you for taking time to read this! Any information would be extremely helpful!
Thanks so much @suburbiafeelsu.. Bummer that I didnt get offered a position. 50-60 new nurses is quite a lot. Would have been nice if I got offered a position. I was thinking of trying out again for the February cohort but not sure if its worth the risk. Maybe the other residency will be a better fit for me. Who knows, I might transfer to Swedish eventually hehe
Hi, same as well! I was applying for hopes of an ED position. I haven't heard anything back since my first interview, but I assume it's because they knew I wasn't really interested in CVICU. I really only wanted ED, but they had no current openings. But one of my best friends had her second interview yesterday for a medsurg floor. What were you applying for?
Hi all,
I also did a phone interview for ED and was told that they were moving me to the next round and would let me know regarding dates for interviews... which was supposed to be mid november. I've emailed the recruiter twice now and have heard nothing back. Did they tell you they were not hiring ED?
Yes, during the interview I was stressing how much I wanted ED and then the recruiter said right now they don't have any ED openings but some may eventually open up and then asked if I would still be interested in CVICU. I said yes, but my priority is ED. She said the same thing about 2-3 weeks and then I haven't heard from them since.

Umm, rough estimate of 50-60 people.
I'm sorry about Swedish not offering you a position. I agree that you should accept the other nurse residency. You'll do great. Good luck you nurse!
