Well they all have horrible traffic jams...bad commutes. They are all expensive cost of living. But do you want rain (Seattle), or hazy/dreary (San Fran) or sun with lots of smog (calif) there is your difference!!! HA.

your best bet is seattle... better family oriented, that averages same pay as l.a. & sf

I heard it is hard to get a med/surg job in Seatlle, Is that true? I only have one and half year experience. The pay is low in Seattle, I will be paid about $24/hr? This is what I heard. Any input? Thanks!

Uh ... not really. The pay is about the same in Seattle and LA at $67K on average, but in the Bay Area RN pay gets up to $80-$88K. Of course, the cost of living is high so, you'd have to figure out the difference.

The number one reason to work in California? Ratios. They can't give you more than five patients by law. Other states don't have that.

This does sum it up quite nicely but there are a few exceptions ...

San Fran can be hazy and dreary but, once you get across the bridges, the outlying areas do get more sun. SoCal definitely has smog but if you live in the windier areas then air quality isn't bad, actually. Of course, then everybody complains about the wind.

Pick your poison so to speak.

Thank you for all good input. Anyone can give a specific hourly pay for 1.5 year experience for med/surg RN in a Seattle hospital? I have to get to be specific as I have two kids to take care. Thank you!

AJ

Specializes in surgical oncology.

you're given me a lil bit of ideas, hehhe!:) planning o such areas though..lol at me!thanks for that info coz it helps a lot!:) God bless!

Thank you guys for the input, I am moving to Seattle next month. Have three more questions, please help out.

1. How long it takes to get an endorsement license in Washington?

2. How is nursing shortage situation in Seattle area? Is that pretty hard to find a RN job in Seattle? Do I have to be in Seattle physically to get a job? I got my present job in Arizona through phone interview.

3. Working at a Med/Surg floor with 1.5 year experience, how much I will be paid in Seattle? I have to consider this as I have kids.

Thanks Again! AJ
